Yes, but it kind of depends on the division. The last few years winning the east wasn't all that impressive. Winning the west pretty much means your a top 5 team at a minimum most years.

I honestly couldn't care less what a fan of a team that has never won their division thinks.

This is the first year the winner of the SEC West is not playing for the national title since 2008. Three teams have done it in that span (Alabama, Auburn, LSU)
