Meh... probably the same reason some Aubie (or insert any other school) fans get up in arms if a rival fan says anything negative about their town, campus, program, etc... Failure to read and look at it objectively.

The funny thing is, if we're grading on a "proximity scale"... Columbia might actually have a good argument... Not a far trip to get to mountains in upstate/lower North Carolina, reasonably short trip to get to the beaches/marshes of the Atlantic Coast, head west to get to Savannah River... not much *in* Columbia proper in that respect that I'm aware of, but has a lot of diversity of things within short drives.
