Serious Question: Is the reason Tennessee is avoiding Les

that Les more than likely wouldn't be a yes man to Haslam? Tennessee seems to prefer less experienced/weaker candidates (Doeren, Brohm, Schiano) or big names that barring a miracle aren't going to happen (Gruden, Gundy, Kelly).
It makes me wonder if Haslam has Currie give a throwaway offer to the big fish to try and show Tennessee fans theyre trying (ie: appease them), but really wants a weaker candidate that will do what he wants (whatever that may be on and off the field).
Les would undoubtedly tell Haslam to frick off if he wanted to whine about players he was starting or play calling.
What does tRant think?

Their problem is that NO ONE has been a "Yes" man (other than Shiano)
There have been a looooonnngggg string of "NO" men!

You are asking tRANT to "seriously" make sense of the most ridiculous, nonsensical coaching search that has ever been conducted. Ludicrous question.
My personal opinion is that Currie hasn't been instructed to pursue Les yet. Haslam can't lose this one or his control is over.
If you look at the whole list of people that Clay Travis "supports," Currie has basically avoided all of them at this point other than Jeff Brohm. Mike Leach, Les Miles, Kevin Sumlin, Lane Kiffin and Tee Martin were all on his list.
Currie can't hire those guys, because that would be a win for us and a big fat L for Jimmy Haslam.

Why would any SEC school hire a re-tread from the "roster of the vanquished" collection of skulls Saban keeps by his desk?
Complaining about Saban and hoping for his retirement every year seems kinda dumb when you continually hire your coaches off of the conquered by Saban short list. All you're doing is prolonging his domination by hiring the dominated. Your school administrations know this right SEC? Riiiight?

I wonder if Les' price is too high with the amount of years and his buyout? He seems like a pretty good option at this point. Anybody else at this point is 95% certain to put the program back another 3-4 years.
Yeah, He made us drink way too much with the X's and O's but Coach O didn't have to rebuild the program. I don't think he would be 9-3 his first year at a place like Texas.
Coach Miles did have a big part with LSU having 3 first rounders in the draft last year that are really solid young men as well.

Les turned the down. He doesn’t want to get back into coaching THAT badly.

Why doesn't Haslam just hire Hue Jackson?
