Everybody cheated back then and that especially included Texas. Texas just was pissed that everyone else was playing the same game and they were starting to lose. Hell the NCAA finally had to even give Texas the slightest of slaps on the wrist in the '80s for doing so.

That's all really just a distraction from the fact Texas has always only wanted to play in a conference that they dominated in every way. The concept of equality and working together simply doesn't compute. The only purpose any other school has is to serve them. They are horrific business partners and leaving them is the best thing to ever happen to A&M, most recently evidenced by how A&M surpassed them in AD revenue to take over the #1 spot nationally at $194 million.

The Big 12 now only stays together because no one can leave. The only schools that would have any chance of another conference wanting them (Texas, OU, and Kansas) are all stuck because now they are tied to their weaker public schools in their respective states that would fall out of the Power 5 if the Big 12 broke up. Politically they can't leave them now. The 4 schools that could leave have all gone.

The funniest thing to me was DeLoss Dodds sealed your fate through his arrogance. He came out and publicly stated that as long as Texas was there the Big 12 was viable. What he didn't think about was how he put handcuffs on your school while giving A&M its freedom to leave by destroying the only argument that could be used against A&M politically to force us to stay in the Big Dumpster Fire.

So enjoy your pathetic existence in the disaster that is the Big 12 (with 10 teams) that you created. We will continue to laugh at you as you suffer through another failed coaching hire and we just snap our fingers and take Jimbo Fisher from FSU. I will never get tired of watching Texas suffer.

This. It's like that old saying about government: "Don't steal, the government hates competition."

UH joined the SWC and began kicking arse. What happens? They go on probation.

SMU starts kicking arse. What happens? They go on probation.

Same with the Big 12. Baylor starts kicking arse, Art Briles is banished and now they're 1-11.

Don't think the SEC is any different. Hugh Freeze beat Bama back-to-back years and nearly a third consecutive time. What happens? You guessed it.

One more data point for this.

Texas decides (like A&M) that having a "rivalry" game on Thanksgiving is a tradition that needs to continue, even if it is not A&M-Texas. Inertia, and all that.

We work out with LSU that we will do our home games on Thanksgiving day, and away games on Saturday. This is our tradition, so if LSU wants to do it differently for their home games, who are we to argue? Now, it seems, we have settled on it always being on Saturday. Move on, and all that.

Texas may or may not keep the game on T-day. What they HAVE insisted on, though, is that it will always be a home game for them. TCU and Tech will alternate as the opponent, but it will always be in Austin.

Just selfish, arrogant bastards.
