How do we feel about this?

I'm not a fan at all of the hire.

Think he's a fantastic coach and was able to have some very good teams by Miss State standards with minimum talent.

It's a 4 year hire. IF the UF fans let him hang on that long.

He won't get results right away, but he'll get results.

I don't like Florida with that type of offense again.

He's basically Urban Meyer all over again.

When Urban brought that spread to SEC, it was fairly revolutionary. There wasn't an offense like it in the league. That's changed a LOT since 2005.

Mullen is a good coach, but he doesn't scare me. He's a middling recruiter, he's had success at Miss St but always seemed to absolutely shite the bed against quality competition, and I'm not so sure that if he doesn't win the division by year 3 that the fan base will be patient with him. Those are my feelings on it.

same sentiment I have. Tim Tebow will never be Mullen's QB at UF again, either.

they'll crucify Mullen quicker than they would a Scott Frost or Chip Kelly, without question. it's not the plug & play "return to 2006-09' hire that UF fans will fool themselves into believing.

this exactly..

The QB's he has worked with are unreal.
Tebow, Newton, Prescott, Fitzgerald

not to mention what he did following meyer at Utah and with Alex Smith before that.

Was nowhere near as worried about Chip Kelley as I was Mullen.

Jury is still out on him IMHO. Florida has lost some of it's luster and he's not a Urbie or Spurrier tyoe hire. He has shown some weaknesses as a HC ... those may correct themselves at UF, like recruiting and PR with the fans, but who knows.

A lot of his fortunes will be built around how well Kirby does at UGA, who FSU hires to replace Jimbo, who Tennessee hires, whether or not Muschamp can build a big winner at SC.

I think the East is about to get a lot tougher either way so Mullen is not going to have an easy path to success. He's really going to have to work for it and the pressure is on now ... UF is a different animal than was Miss State for Mullen.
