Are UT fans too scared of hiring another G5 coach to be pissed if UT ends up hiring Norvell? Are they too smug to poach from Memphis State?
I don't see Norvell being Butch 2.0 - he appears to be much more intelligent.

I doubt Kelly will be the HC of Florida. We have all seen this same song and dance with the rumors so many times.

Chip Kelly at UF is a lot more realistic than Gruden at UT. Heck, Gruden at UF makes more sense.

Which is why the bet is up there.
Kelly will be the next UF coach. It will be before Friday as well, though something could back out or trip up last minute. Will def be done by next Tuesday no doubt. They already agreed to numbers. Now it's all the small stuff to finish off. SEC approved the hire, so don't see any reason it won't happen.

Agreed I'm not buying it until there is a press conference. Gator fans thought Stoops was a done deal twice, and my fellow Gators seem like they like setting themselves up for disappointment. I fully expect Charlie Strong to be named head coach after the season. I think all of this Chip Kelly stuff is just fans on Twitter being hopeful and acting like they have info.

All these sites throw out all the same candidates for every job and most of those established coaches are not going to leave the stability of their current situation for a pressure cooker job where you could be out in two years like McElwain or burnt out like Spurrier or Meyer.
When LSU hired Saban, he wasn't even close to being on the initial list of candidates. Radio guys were throwing out Butch Davis and all kinds of rumors and Davis was more likely to go to the NFL before Saban.

I never said FLorida couldn't get a big name coach. Personally, Id test the waters with Mike Gundy.
I just find it laughable how fans go to dudes sitting in the MNF booth or whatever is the home run hire we were waiting for.
That's why I would never want fans hiring or firing coaches. They pretty much in general suck at it

I'll have a Cuban and buy a hooker if it's true, but I just haven't seen anything definitive, and I just can't get excited over another done deal scenario until it's real this time. This has happened way to many times before with Shanahan and Stoops just in the last couple searches.

Be careful. UT is a "Big 6" school. They shouldn't be bothered with such insignificant facts as slipping behind the University of Memphis as a football program.
