I know this trend was true for most of rural America but Taliaferro County’s population peaked in the 1940s. Whenever I’m down there it certainly feels extra deserted compared to Warren McDuffie Ogle Wilkes etc. I always wonder what people do for work, they can’t all work at the pallet factory. I guess many commute to surrounding counties or cruise/cut timber.

I had read a lot about AH Stephens a few months ago, and it was cool to read about Taliaferro Co tonight. I only made it down there once this year (new parent) and I just road cruised for snakes around Sharon. Saw a coyote and a few copperheads.

It wasn't exactly hopping in the late 70's but it was better than today - and like being a kid in a Rockwell painting. Riding bikes to school and putting pennies on the railroad track kind of thing.
