On Saturday, November 4th, during the highly anticipated SEC football game between the Georgia Bulldogs and the South Carolina Gamecocks at Sanford Stadium in Athens, GA, The University of Georgia will recognize Gregg for his legacy in music and his generosity to the University’s Hugh Hodgson School of Music. In 2015, The Gregg Allman Scholarship Fund was established by Gregg with the UGA Music Business Program and is awarded to students seeking a career in the music industry. During halftime of the game, the Gregg Allman Scholarship recipients will be recognized and the legendary University of Georgia Redcoat Marching Band will perform three Allman Brothers Band songs.

Nice! Should beat the hell out of the Bruno Mars set I've heard all season! Ugh!

In the summer of 1969, I was living in Atlanta on 9th Street just a couple of blocks from Piedmont Park.
Every day I would go into Piedmont Park and The Allman Brothers Band would be there playing their music.
At the time I thought they were just a bunch of local "hippies" practicing their music and they would play all of their old classics over and over for hours.
I went to the park and listened to them every day until one morning when I went into the park to listen to them they weren't there.
I remember saying to my friend, "Hey, where are the Allman Brothers?"
They never played in Piedmont Park again and the rest is history.
It wasn't until years later I realized how lucky I was that I got to listen to them play in Piedmont Park.

Debut and early years (1969–1970)
The group moved to Atlanta, Georgia by May 1, where Walden was establishing Capricorn Records.[23] Mike Callahan and Joseph "Red Dog" Campbell became the band’s early crew members. "Red Dog" was a disabled Vietnam veteran who donated his monthly disability checks to the band's cause.[24][25] In Macon, the group stayed at friend Twiggs Lyndon's apartment on 309 College Street, which became known as the communal home of the band and crew, nicknamed the Hippie Crash Pad.[26] "There were five or six occupied apartments in the building with the Hippie Crash Pad and you would expect they would call the police on us because we were constantly raising hell at three or four in the morning, but they all just moved out," said Trucks.[27] Living meagerly, they found a friend in "Mama Louise" Hudson, cook and proprietor of the H&H Soul Food Restaurant, who ran a tab when they were short of funds,[28] early on made good with proceeds from Duane's recording sessions on the side. The band's image was radical in the just barely integrated Macon: "A lot of the white folk around here did not approve of them long-haired boys, or of them always having a black guy with them," said Hudson.[29] The band performed locally, as well as 80 miles north in Atlanta's Piedmont Park, and practiced at the newly minted Capricorn nearly each day.[28]

His brother John Lyndon had the law office above the Georgia Theater before it burned down.
The Lyndon House in Athens is their family also.

I remember there was an old bandstand in Piedmont Park where the Allman Brothers would play on.
I knew who they were but I didn't try to meet any of them. I just enjoyed listening to them and didn't want to bother them while they played.
There was usually a small group of no more than 25-50 local "hippies" who were always hanging around the old bandstand listening to them.
I heard them singing, "...tied to the whipping post..." and "...one more silver dollar..." every day.
I remember waking up one morning and saying to one of my "hippie" friends that I was living with (there were 16 of us living together in a house on 9th Street that was behind Grady High School), "Let's go into the park and listen to the Allman brothers" and we went to the bandstand but the Allman brothers weren't there. I was surprised that they weren't there because they played there every day for hours so I asked a "hippie" friend who was hanging out at the old bandstand, "Hey, where are the Allman brothers?" He just shook his head and said, "I don't know." I never saw them playing in Piedmont Park after that.
It was great that I to got to listen to them play before they became famous and I don't care if you don't believe me.

This is even better than the time you plagiarized Wikipedia to tell us how about the old guy wearing a houndstooth hat, smoking a pipe that was leaning against the goalpost before the GA Bama game. On that day you helped desegregate the campus in a similar fashion to exactly how it’s described on Wikipedia.

I remember saying to my friend, "Hey, what is that civil war veteran doing with an bird on his shoulder?"
Then late in the game, the bird began to soar over the field and Georgia lost. We were so angry and mad over the loss that we didn't even feel bad that the bird died. lol. So, we just hopped a box car back to Athens. Where I lived with 16 "hippies".
Anyway, this was the first time I went to the Georgia Auburn game. Little did I know that this would be the first game of what is referred to as the Deep South' Oldest Rivalry.

You continue to lie about what I said.
I said I saw Bear Bryant wearing his famous houndstooth hat and leaning against the goalpost after we beat Bama 18-17. I also didn't say anything about him smoking a pipe.

WTF are you bullshitting about now?
Show me where I plagiarized Wikipedia.
I said I went to UGA from 1964-68 and there were already black students attending UGA. However, there were still segregated restrooms at the time but that was ended while I was attending UGA without my involvement.

I know that.
I was just pointing out the lyrics from the song that were ingrained into my brain forever because they played the song so many times.

I went to one Georgia-Auburn game in Auburn when I attended UGA in 1964-68 not 1864-68.
Unfortunately, we lost the game and when I and some other UGA fans were leaving the stadium, some Auburn fans actually chased us and tried to fight with us.
It was a low class thing for the Auburn fans to do.
