Whatever money they save on the Mac buyout, it will cost them that much extra in two months when they hire the new guy. So, the financial side of this is a net break even.
But the new coach's contract will set the bar just that much higher. Which will ripple effect through the coaching search world. So they set the new standard artificially high, to make up for the money they "saved" by squeezing their outgoing coach.
So really it's TN, Arky, and Ole Miss who will suffer by comparison.

There's more truth to this than UF fans are admitting. Making it to the SEC championship game is a big deal and it goes into the record books. What coach is going to want to come to Florida after they fired Muschamp for having a winning record, and now they fired CJM for winning the east twice and aren't paying his buyout.

absolutely. one of the best jobs in america and they will pay a ton of money. lol if you think this is gonna scare coaches off from UF.
