The scariest stories are the ones that have happened to you. To me stories that someone has made can come across as just that, stories. If you get guys to tell you stories of real shite that’s happened to them then it can be pretty creepy and you find yourself wanting to learn about such things until it happens to you, after that you’d rather distance yourself from it.
ETA: all that to say, if you want a damn good story ask guys who have experienced stuff. Those are the best.
