Which is a huge improvement. He's very good throwing to backs in the flat (which matters) and he's the best running QB in the conference and probably 2nd in the country to Lamar Jackson. And, finally, he doesn't make many mistakes.

So, add all those things up, and that's a pretty good college QB. He's not Baker Mayfield but he's had a good, improved season.

The big knock on him is that he doesn't throw it down the field a lot, or well when he does. People say that without taking into consideration the fact that he's ahead by two scores more often than probably any other qb in the country.

Generally speaking Bama isn't going to be throwing 40 yard bombs when they are up by 24, nor should they.
