This could be largely revisionist theory, but it seems to me that Bama has had a great track record with trick or surprise plays under Saban and they happen more often than one might think. Who knows if CNS designed the plays, called them, or just OKd them when the OC made the call but we seem to hit way more than we miss. Feel free to add some to the list especially failed calls because its way harder to remember those

Worked
Clemson onside kick
Pass out of wildcat vs. Arkansas 2009
Maze pass vs. Florida
Flea Flicker from AJ to Bell vs. Auburn
Pass to Brandon Greene in OT vs. LSU
Aj to Williams out of FG formation
Two point conversion vs. Auburn

Ardarius Stewart pass vs Clemson
Fake field goal vs. LSU in the national championship game
AJ to Bell Flea Flicker vs Texas A&M
Fake punt for first down in SECCG vs. Georgia
Ambush onside vs. Vols 2007
Flea Flicker vs. Missouri

Did not work
Fake field goal vs. South Carolina
Punter throwing the ball vs. texas
Maze pass in the GOTC
Weird onside kick to start iron bowl 2014?

It just goes in the face of the weird idea in the national media that Saban is some sort of pearl clutching conservative. Anybody who has watched us knows that is far from the truth. Saban sees targeted trick plays and fakes as ways to shift emotion and momentum in games. Almost all of his fakes are at specific instances to stem momentum or bury a team.

We ran a fake punt early in the 1st quarter in 2010 at Penn State down 3-0 at our own 40. Barely got it.

The 4th and 2 against Auburn in 2014 near midfield is what swung the game. If we didn't get that we were fvcked.

We ran a fake punt against LSU in 2013 on our own side of the field tied 17-17 with 8 minutes left in the 3rd quarter that changed the game. Outscored them 21-0 the rest of the way.

I think a flea flicker with hurts after a handoff would be money as much as we run the ball inside.

Big one was a fake punt against LSU in the 3rd quarter in 2013. I think the game was tied at that point and we had stalled out for a while on offense. Went on to score a TD and the rout was on.

We had a fake FG against one of the Urban Florida teams that failed. I'm pretty sure it was '08, but I could be remembering wrong.

Onsides kick to start the Tennessee game in 2007 was pretty sweet.

Quick thinking by AJ. Nice throw and nice vision. I miss AJ.
