Bama is and was our largest obstacle to a championship, so y'all are the bar. It wasn't everything though. It's not like LSU was just losing to Bama and only Bama. Hence, my reference to Miles' .500 SEC record.

If Nick Saban had never come to Alabama, it is likely that Les Miles would be hailed as one of the greatest coaches of his era, and the SEC,hell all college football would have been Pax LSU.

Alabama has everything you need to win big,maybe more so than almost anywhere plus a very football friendly administration. Saban saw this and he has taken advantage.

Over the ages Alabama has won big. Wallace Wade and others in the early era. Of course Paul Bryant. Gene Stallings. Even Dennis Franchione was beginning to build things and would have done very well without the sanctions.
