Looking at the gifs you posted, there are no quick slants being run by any of those receivers. A quick slant is all about leverage while getting upfield and the qb delivering the ball in the 5 to 8 yard range to a wr who is able to catch it in stride. Let's look at the first one you posted. There are 3 receivers to the top on a 3rd and 4. Look at the routes they run. All 3 run straight ahead and square the routes in at the first down marker. So not only do we get 3 wr's in the same area at the same time, none of them sold the routes as anything else. The db's just sat there and waited. The end result is that there was nowhere to go with the ball and it ended with a sac.

You are right in that I mislabeled that play. Not a slant but in routes. I still think the play design is fine, we just didn't execute

Now take the same formation and have the inside guy running a seam route up the hash or a deep post. That clears the middle of the field for middle receiver to drive to the outside shoulder of the db to turn his hips. Once his hips turn the receiver should be cutting/ slanting underneath him as the qb is delivering him the ball as he runs open across the middle. This is basic football passing and catching, and for the life of me I can't understand why Gus chooses not to implement simple techniques of leverage that allow his receivers to run themselves open in short yardage situations.

We have run concepts like this

You have Ryan Davis on the seam, Eli Stove running option route that he breaks outside and then KD on a deeper in route. Stidham hits NCM on the backside slant route

We have intermediate concepts in our passing scheme. I do think we could run more of them. However, a lot of it is execution and Stidham/WRs being in rhythm
