“I am so grateful to have the opportunity to pour into the student-athletes on the basketball team here at Charleston Southern,” Thompson said in a school release. “God has put a dent in my heart for growing people, and I firmly believe the way to do that is through interpersonal relationships. We are excited about all that God will do here.”

This came out of left field. He's married to a girl from my home town, but I hadn't heard anything about this. For some reason, I thought he was still on a practice squad somewhere.

That is great. Not everyone has a long pro career, or even gets a sniff at the big leagues. He seemed like a good kid and hopefully he excels at his job and will eventually wind up back home with y'all's Athletic Department.

Dude, don't be embarrassed to say Lancaster.

Rolls right off the tip of my tongue.

Kinda off-topic, but I love hearing how out-of-staters mispronounce this. They butcher it. Kinda like Gervais and Huger among others.

See y'all got me worried I don't say it right and I've lived in SC my whole life other than a few years
I know Huger and Gevais. Those are easy.
frick it. Here goes. I've always said "lank-is-ter" really quick. Is the foreign pronunciation Lan-Caster?

You say it right. And yep, foreigners pronounce it LAN-caster.

Well that's just difficult to say
I actually have to try to pronounce it like that

It does seem like it would be better suited to the foreign pronunciation.

It’s kind of like Houston street here.
Funny stuff

I hate it when I tell someone I'm from “Lankister" but they say it back to me as “Lan-caster".
Posted on 9/26/17 at 11:06 pm to UpstateCock2007
Hard LAN-caster right?

I'm from Horry County. O-ree County not Whore-y County.

I've heard ppl from South Carolina butcher Horry County before. I just shake my head and snicker.
Posted on 9/28/17 at 2:44 pm to SCLibertarian
It is fairly whorey though.

Spring breakers and Yankees flock to Myrtle Beach...I'd say the spring breakers def influence the whoriness of Horry County.
Hell, the things I did back then on spring break and after the prom...but I was with the guy I ended up marrying so I wouldn't call it whorish so much as brashness.

If you go west of the Waccamaw River, Horry County is more like Williamsburg and Marion Counties than the Grand Strand. Conway, Bucksport, Aynor, Gallivants Ferry, Loris, Green Sea and Floyds are a world away from the beach culturally.

Was speaking more to my own personal escapades in myrtle beach area CG. Between there and Rock Hill I'm surprised I'm not dead from some crazy disease or some girl's bf or husband. Ah memories memories.
