Here is my argument against paying athletes who get free tuition.
DGB was able to attend TWO colleges for free. Have you met the kid? Im surprised he is allowed to eat with a fork. Yet somehow he was able to maintain grades to attend Mizzou and OU.
On the other hand, my friend Kathryn scored a 31 on her ACT but had to file multiple appeals to get just fasfa to go through so she could take 9 hours from home through MSU because she can't afford to pay someone to watch her daughter.
You dont like the way the system is set up? Do what Brandon Jennings did. Go get paid. But don't be all high and mighty.
The real changes that need to be made is where the money goes to. It SHOULD be funneled back to more scholarships. And in basketball, guys like MPJ should not be forced to go through a year of school. It is pointless. He should have been drafted this year. Change the one and done rule. I would like a system similar to MLB for the draft. You can either go right out of HS OR stay for three years (which with hard work you can knock out a degree in that time).

That’s on the NBA, not the NCAA. If I was advertising these players I would send them to Europe, where players like MPJ could make 4-5 million.

How much does your friend make for the university? That’s why you pay athletes. Fair value based on the amount of money they bring into the university.
Non revenue sports a scholarship is enough. Football and basketball make universities a lot of money. There are ways to make it work.
