I don't see any reason why you can't run the dual threat QB Read Option offense with a passing attack incorporated into it. Who gives a frick about the NFL anyway. WIN MOTHERfrickER THAT'S YOUR JOB FOR $5 million

Is the FPI run by the same people that thought SportCenter @ 6 was a good idea?

If that was the thinking, then it was probably because if you appeal to the NFL then it's easier to recruit. But I don't think that was the thinking.

If we had a complete change in philosophy then why did we go hard after Brandon Harris? He's a Dual threat

We've gone after 3 less mobile. (I say less mobile because none of them are complete statues back there but they aren't Cam or Nick mobility wise).

Gus was handed Jeremy Johnson. He didn't really pick him. He was committed and it was too late to go after anybody else. As a backup, JJ looked good so there was no caution sign that we should completely stay away from less mobile guys. The only reason we went after White was because we missed on Harris and we didn't have any real shot at anybody else that year that was a 4 star or higher. So that was more of taking what was left. Then there's Stidham. But I don't know how you can blame Gus for recruiting him when all of us were clamoring for him.

To me up to this point, we thought we could use either a pocket passer or more of a runner and we just took what we got. But now it's more clear that we have to have a runner. This is part of the reason I think Gus should get more time. Defense was the problem early, he fixed it. Now not having a runner at QB is the problem, will he fix it? I haven't seen us recruiting any pocket passers. Gatewood is a runner. Fields is a runner.

I think people forget that the players playing now are usually recruited 2-3 years ago unless you get some stud. It takes time to fix things.

The type of person who just saw Chip Kelly hired by the NFL and find success year 1 with a spread/college offense

As in, the implication was that Gus would have made the jump to the NFL. It also makes sense in the context that Gus didn't demand a contract extension after 2013, which would have increased his buyout/made him less attractive

Year 3 of the same issues though. If it hasn't happened yet, it isn't going to happen. I don't think Gus fully accepts that his concepts are the primary problem.

His core offense ideas are fine, his development of the concepts are not.

Doesn't appear that he understands that though. He's like M Night Shyamalan. Started strong, never progressed/evolved
