I think it's a winnable game, but not the way we've been playing. If we play against Purdue the way we did SC, they will beat us by 3 touchdowns! Their offense is much more explosive than SC. Defensively, is a wash compared to SC.
We will need to play much much better to win this game! Better in all facets of the game!

What say you?

Louisville got in the red zon 10 times. Mizzou's offense has to finish drives. If they do that and the defense plays the way it did in the USCe game Mizzou will win.

If Mizzou doesn't win then I'm setting up a tent and going on a hunger strike in the quad.

Yeah, we have to be able to finish. That's been a tough thing for us to do for a couple of years. Our offensive scheme does not lend itself to being efficient in the red zone. When we have to pass the ball 3 times inside the 4 yd line to score, that ain't good! I also think our entire special teams have to be much better. Coverages on punts and kick offs...and McCants def has to be better! Fatoney is our only reliable special team player! Someone has to field a punt!
Dline has to be better. We need to clog the middle on runs, and get more pressure on the QB without having to blitz. We can't fall for the miz direction plays. They have a bunch of them!

When Baylor ran this scheme they were great at running the ball because the OL was fantastic.

Huepel could also go jumbo packages with all 3 TEs. It could also be a good time for Justin Smith to make himself useful. Mizzou should win the jump balls if Lock can deliver the ball accurately, but also have the extra blockers for running the ball.

I wonder if we are all overlooking the idea that south carolina is actually the best team in the east. I predicted them as the dark horse and am sticking with it. They are well balanced without stars. Only a full season will tell for them but purdue will answer the question for us.

Georgia should win the East, USC is an average team that plays good fundamental football. Due to this they will keep it close but there's no way they finish with less than 4 losses.

of course it is winnable. That doesn't make it likely.

The only likely aspect of this game is that if Mizzou loses, Odom is likely not going to be back next year.

Odom will be back next year. And I am glad of that.

If Mizzou has the same turnover and special teams mistakes against Purdue as South Carolina, Mizzou will lose. If they clean those up, Mizzou would have beaten South Carolina, and will beat Purdue.

Mizzou's defense played well against SC.

Sorry but Sterk has made it clear that is not the case.

Baylor wasn't playing against SEC defenses either! The spread is overrated. You can spread you Oline all you want. If I put my Dline in tight, I'm going to blow up your Oline, and have the RB or QB in my grasp before they can do anything! Alabama and .Auburn has already done that to us...thus tighter splits on the online!

Over half of the SEC runs some variation of the spread. You can run the ball in a spread offense. Running the ball is the one thing Mizzou has done well pretty much every game since BO has been coach.

I may not believe this team is suited to running the Baylor spread, but that doesn't mean you can't run it effectively.

Ole Miss, A&M, OU, Clemson, have all wracked up points against Bama using it.

I do wonder however, if MU is just better suited to a spread with a dual threat QB.

Regardless. Heupel needs to start tweaking his scheme. It ain't working in SEC play.

I vote more TE action.

I think Heupel wants a Dual Threat QB by their recruiting anyways.

Purdue's last non-con Power-5 win was in 2005, Arizona.

We better win. Who else we gonna beat? Idaho or maybe UConn?

The coaches have this team playing like sh*t.

It's a shame we don't like to laugh at ourselves every once in awhile on this board.

I got no problem laughing at ourselves. Personally, though, I don't find anything funny about swastikas, whether it's part of self-deprecating humor or not.
