I'm done. I was excited for Odom. He was touted as an up and comer. Would be a better recruiter. Hired guys from outside Mizzous circle of trust. And fact is he doesn't deliver. Don't tell me it takes time. So many coaches have done better faster. Donors have put a lot of money in Sterks pocket to play with. Odom is not the guy. I'll start.

Bo Pelini who can legit coach and recruit in the sec.

Vic Fangio had legit defenses at Stanford deserves to be a HC in the NFL. But I highly doubt he would ever end up at Mizzou.

Mike Vrabel. IF this were to ever happen I think I would be short term. He appears to be a star in the making and may end up an NFL head coach.

Bob Stoops- won't happen. Ever. But he's a name.

Luke Fickell- might be the most realistic option. Current head coach at Cincinnati, coached some great defenses at Ohio State and didn't do too bad when he was their temp head coach and had their best players suspended the whole year.

Who are some realistic names?

There aren't any realistic candidates.

Welcome back to the dark ages.

I actually have faith in Sterk. The guy is a fund raising machine. A great new facility is being built and I think there's a good coach who will want to be a part of that. Or maybe GP just comes back.

I agree with you about Sterk but this is an exaggeration. The new facility is an improvement but ho hum compared to others' facilities.

It's an improvement.

Mizzou is never going to be a flash program. We need a meat and potatoes coach. BO is that, but his team just does not seem to respond to him.

You can't have average talent and play dumb. Just doesn't work.

If BO is done, which looking at the moment he is, we take another gamble. Hopefully we hit. This is Mizzou football. Welcome

BP is the stick his foot in your arse when you fk up kind of coach.

That style of coaching is exactly what we need here.

He was booted from Nebraska after winning 9-10 games a year. I would gladly take that at Mizzou.

Pelini would be realistic. Gives him a chance to get back to FBS. He coached well, the Nub fans were just stuck in the early nineties. Now look where they are. My only concern would be his recruiting preferences was Ohio and in the East and I dont think those kids come to Mizzou

Troy Calhoun, Mike Bobo, Manny Diaz for me off the top of my head.

Getting an elite coach in football will always be difficult due to the lack of outside resources and support from the fan base you need in recruiting.

It's tough to get a home run hire in football. We should have tried to get Richt.

Pelini might work as long as it's Carl.

I like the idea of going back to Toledo and getting Candle

Satterfield from App State and Calhoun from Air Force are also interesting

Why not Pellini? Why not Miles? Why not Chizik? This team needs a fire under it's arse and soon. All 3 stress D and hopefully special teams. We are not in the late 1980's again but damn close!!

One thing Mizzou can't afford to happen is to go back to wandering in the wilderness like we did through the 80's and much of the 90's. The Odom hire was so Mizzou, make a bland hire and hope for the best. Granted, we were not in the best situation at that time (which btw was Mizzou admn own damn fault).

This may be a pipe dream, but I would put a full throttle offense to get Big Game Bob here. That would be a homerun hire on so many levels. Instant name recognition which would help in recruiting. He may have choked in some big games, but his overall record speaks for itself, and he brought Okie back to national prominence.

I hated him when we were in the Big 12, but for me, it's a no brainer. Just back the Brinks truck up and make him say no. The entertainment value would be great too. A former Big 12 school hires a former Big 12 coach who talked shite about the SEC. Good stuff man, good stuff. Personally, I would love to see him on our sidelines.

Maybe not, but again, make him say no.

Why would Bob Stoops retire from OU to coach Mizzou?

Mizzou needs to find someone doing a lot with very little in the FBS ranks.

That loveable little commodity known as money. Like I said, it's a pipe dream, but why not aim for a splash hire. What you suggest is so Mizzou and probably the way we will go.
