Mac has recruited a lot of contributing young players in his first two seasons on the field. Based on the early word out of fall camp, there's going to be a few freshmen DBs playing, a couple of the DL playing (including Slaton, Conliffe, Campbell and Carter), and James Robinson and Daquon Green are both trying to break into the rotation. Plus he said Lemons and Davis are better than he expected right now.
We could have a ton of freshmen playing this year because they're ball players and not because we need them to be ready.
I agree about the offense struggling regardless of QB so far, except for the first 6 games of Mac's tenure when the offense was rolling under Will Grier. I think with the right quarterback, the offense will roll like that again. It's obvious that the offense works. We just need the quarterback to hit the open receivers. Hopefully Franks and Zaire can manage that this year. And Franks will be able to manage it going forward.

It's both. The FR have to play because there's no one else. We didn't get a DT in 2016 and almost none of our DBs from 2015-2016 have done a thing except Chauncey. That's why the FR DTs and DBs will be playing. Most of Mac's players in 2016 are unproven as well as this class.
