What? You are probably from the "No Corporal Punishment" camp. If you see this as a big deal, or any deal, we can only hope there aren't too many like you.

Actually, in this case, it was a lesser punishment because she asked for it over detention. (And pretty much most kids felt the same about it). Yeah, a paddling hurt, but it was over in about a minute. Then you went on about your day like nothing happened.
Now take something away that a kid loves (like video games, phone, internet) for a period of time, they remember that shite.

I'm not saying there isn't an instance where it's not effective, it's just not the most effective means in most cases especially with teenagers.
