It's not that hard to figure out. Texts confirming he knew about violations, wiping away the excuse he never knew. Including but not limited to hookers for cruits and pay for play.
Occams Razor would point towards this explanation.

I think it's going to come down to the NCAA having to come up with reasons justify NOT giving them the death penalty at this point.

Nobody is getting the death penalty. The contractual complications with all the various conferences, networks, etc just make it too difficult.

Instead, you're going to see what's been happening. More show-causes for the individuals involved and heavy sanctions for the programs.

I'm ok with that - particularly the show cause part. Banning the coaches and staff involved effectively ends their ability to make a living in their chosen field. That's about the best deterrent you've got available.

If OM gets the death penalty, what is more likely... they get replaced in the SEC or both they and Mizzou get tossed?

Miami ... actions were more extreme, more in the open, went on longer.. yet NCAA whiffed. If Miami was able to duck and cover, it would be hard to defend giving ANYONE the death penalty based on precedent.

This term is basically a meme on the SEC Rant.

The only "death penalty" is a multi year bowl ban where players can transfer. That doesn't seem to make sense since Freeze is already gone. It could still happen but we won't know until November.

Ole Miss won't be dead, but the NCAA is absolutely going to leave them in a vegetated state and shove a feeding tube down their throat
