Wow, we've sent a ton of kids to play at some tiny schools haha. I recognize a lot more names than I could think of last night, but mostly from personal knowledge. I still couldn't tell you if any of those guys who made it to major programs were meaningful contributors though, much less All America. Has MUS ever produced an All American? And I definitely agree on Alston. Going into the season where he coached his first title, 2004 sounds right, I remember he probably would've been canned if he'd finished any other way, but then he managed to reel off three more by 2009. MUS has been the bridesmaid since, but dude's job is probably safe until he wants to retire. Nashville's prep teams have made it a good bit harder these days anyway.
It's also funny to me to list a punter and two practice squad guys (I'd completely forgotten Tyler Horn was decent at Miami) as the NFL alums. John Stokes went to the Titans training camp fully knowing he was starting med school in the fall iirc

Most of this is accurate. MUS didn't pretend to be anything more than a small, almost all white private school the entire time I was there (graduated in 2003). We were really good while I was there but we couldn't get past Ingle Martin and MBA. Guys I remember playing big time ball while I was there was Mark Pera at Auburn and Richard Moore at UNC and a handful of others at smaller D1 schools or guys that didn't really play.
But with all that said, the MUS coaching staff is awesome and that's why we've been able to compete with nationally ranked teams the last 10-15 years
Ensworth is such a machine now that it's really changed the old Super 7. If they follow through with this boarding program they've been discussing, I'm not sure they'll be able to stay in TSSAA much longer.
