There's a 14 team pod idea called "The Roommate Switch". But pods will work better @ 16 teams.
Also, a 9 game season WILL HELP see people faster than every 6 years. Strange how most don't want it, but argue about the delay in scheduling caused by 8 games.

The 9th game loses money.
UGA can play Clemson/NorthCarolina/NotreDame.
Ole Miss can play whoever out of conference.
Those games will sell tickets and advertising. It is 2 games making money.
If you scratch the out-of-conference for the extra UGA v Ole Miss game, then you are left with less ticket sales and less TV revenue and a game on the schedule where everyone goes, "meh".
I'd rather play Clemsons and Notre Dames than rushing through the conference faster to get an extra crack at Mississippi State. The TV advertisers agree.

The ultimate concern here is road trips and that's not as high of a priority when it comes to the schools themselves(outside of fans)
