UF, as an institution, is just straight up trolling LSU at this point. I fully expect the tickets for this game to have either the troll face or the crying-Jordan-pasted-onto-a-tiger meme on them.

You're late.
You won't get a rise out of them.

Not trying to get a rise, though I'm sure it will be much discussed as the game approaches.
I actually think it will be some fun for college football fans. The LSU vs UF game was kind of a forced rivalry by the SEC when the conference went to divisions, and it's been kind of lukewarm as far as real rivalries go. It's heating up now.

Are they playing in Germany?

Prior to 1992 schools made out their own conference schedules. LSU and UF, with no gun(s) to their head, scheduled each other THIRTY SIX YEARS of the 39 years prior to 1992. Why the hell would the SEC NOT consider that a rivalry? Especially with the record at 17-16-3 for those THIRTY SIX YEARS. Hell, that is the definition of a rivalry!

There is a difference in a yearly game and a rivalry. Alabama, just for one example, plays teams every year that isn't a rivalry, or at least not a rivalry for UA. For another example, UGA plays Kentucky and Vanderbilt every year, but there is no real rivalry among them.
A bona fide rivalry takes a little bit of bad blood, some reason to really dislike the other bunch, even if you still respect the team (UA vs UT before Phil Fulmer and Roy Kramer ruined that).
Three hasn't been that with UF vs LSU, but it may become that. After all, both programs have the potential to be really good, so that would be a really fun rivalry to watch. Alabama vs Tennessee, Auburn vs Georgia, Michigan vs Ohio State, Texas vs Oklahoma. That kind of rivalry.

That could be said about every series in the conference. Let's just call it what it is (scheduled to play annually) rather than a forced rivalry. Which is what LSU and UF were doing prior to 1992. Scheduling each other annually.

That is the point. A yearly game without a bona fide rivalry is just an annual series of games.
There is nothing forced about the UA vs UT rivalry or the AU vs UGA rivalry. It's for real.
edit: Anyway, it appears to me that the UF vs LSU game is heating up and I look forward to watching it now, whereas in years past, it was just another game among others.

Early to mid 2000s LSU/UF was quite the rivalry. I don't think you bama fans were into football those years so I understand you not remembering. It cooled off a bit the last few years but looks like it's gonna be a fun one for a long time to come.

I love this. It would be awesome for LSU to have a "heated" rivalry game every year. The Gators would be perfect.
I thought the Aggie game every year had the potential for becoming that, especially after the chavis ordeal but it hasn't come to that, yet.
I'm envious of other teams with mutual disdain like UA/Barn, UA/Tenn, Aggie/TU, Mich/OSU etc etc

Exactly. I bet, privately, both the AD administrations love it too. Nothing like a little bad blood to set the tone for a rivalry. Get this thing rolling and Gameday would be a yearly event.

Well LSU really hasn't had one since the Tulane days and after that, Ole Miss. I, personally would like it.
