As a college player? Could be Coop, but Coop got to play with AJ in and then with Kiffin calling plays for him specifically. Julio played on those early teams, even including 2009, that were a step behind on offense. If Kiff had Julio in an offense he would have had 9 billion yards running reverses and catching balls.

Speculation is all well and good, but all we can know for sure is what happened on the field. And on the field in college, Jones was not in the same league as Cooper. Cooper was always reliable, the picture of consistency for all 3 years. And his junior year was one of the all time greatest seasons for a receiver at any level. Jones had issues with drops and injuries throughout his time at Bama, and would sometimes go entire games without a catch. It's forgotten because Bama was undefeated and won the NC, but Jones' sophomore season was mediocre to put it gently. Cooper never really had a down season and his best season was with a converted halfback throwing to him. Part of this as well is that people have such nostalgia for the early Saban era. By the time Cooper arrived, we fans had reached the point that we expect greatness. When Jones arrived, there was more novelty around it.

Ehh, Coop's Sophomore season was somewhat of a slump, but our OL was so terrible that year (2013) that the offense had a lot of trouble with consistency. Plus Coop was banged up, though IIRC Julio was banged up a lot too.

Their sophomore years were very similar. Both had "sophomore slumps." And Cooper had McCarron in his senior season throwing to him, while Jones had McElroy as a first year starter.

They both had excellent freshman, and senior seasons, with Cooper having the best overall season(2014.)

Also, say what you want about Sims, but he was much, much more explosive than McElroy and JPW through the air.
