But it's not just him. A large number of posters on here act like Hurts is one of the worst QBs they've seen. They think there's little to no chance a player can improve from his freshman year.

I also want to know why many of on here think Bama's OL is good every year. They were far from spectacular each of the last couple of years yet people on here act like the entire OL is filled with All-SEC and All-American players which is BS.

I'd take the one who didn't get embarrassed by the University of South Alabama, Miami (Ohio), and pretty much every other team whose defense wasn't ranked in the bottom 10 of college football.

It also doesn't help that Fitzgerald looks and throws like a potato. Both quarterbacks will be transferring out after both schools receive the death penalty.

As an LSU alum, I have seen how bad a sophomore season can be at the QB position...not to mention 3rd and 4th years. Historically, Saban lead teams have not greatly enhanced a QB's skill set over time. They are usually there to manage and not much more.

Hurts has at best a marginal arm and I don't see that changing significantly this or any other year. I think d-coordinators will adjust and make things extremely difficult on Hurts this season. If I had to make a choice, Hurts would not make the top 4 in the SEC if I needed a player to win a game on his individual talent alone.

He was a very bad passer that arguably cost his team a National Championship in year one. His passing limitations were covered up well by Lane Kiffin's scheme and play-calling. We all remember how terrible he was down the stretch, though. He also played 15 games, so he was able to accumulate stats more than others that played 13-14.

That being said, he's still a dual threat quarterback and doesn't have to rely on his arm. He can run, and does it well. I would hope he makes a big jump as a passer in year 2 or he will be passed by Tua Tango. It's yet to be seen, IMO, being that I don't go by spring games, but I'll be interested to see how the offense looks in general during 2017.
