Oregon was 9-2 going into that postseason. They're irrelevant to this discussion.
Washington, Oregon State, Miami and FSU were all 10-1 going into that postseason. Washington beat Oregon State and Miami. Miami beat FSU. Washington deserved that bid.

Miami also beat #2 VT that season, producing their only loss, which people on this thread appear to be conveniently forgetting
