Got diagnosed with pancreatitis about 4 days ago and now the vets are saying he's got about a 40% chance of living. He's a miniature Dachshund named Gus and he's like my son. I've never loved or been closer to a dog in my life, he's like my son. This may seem insignificant to some, but I'm struggling. An prayers for Gus would GREATLY appreciated. Thank you.

My thoughts are with you and Gus. Dogs bring out the best in us. I hope he makes it.

Been thru this myself. My dogs are my kids. Prayers for you and Gus to make a recovery, and no, I don't consider it to be insignificant.
If it's important to you, it's important to God.
If it's important to you, it's important to God.

I hope your dog pulls through. They are awesome pets.
I do, however, have a question.
Aren't all Dachshunds miniature?

Hang in there buddy. Gus will pull through, I can feel it. 40% chance is still damn good.

Our German Shepherd got acute pancreatitis 4 years ago while we were at the beach for my sister's wedding. We had some friends dog sit for us. He was sick when we got home and we had to put him to sleep 3 days later. I sincerely hope you don't have to go through that. Good luck to Gus.

I feel for you. Wishing you the best outcome.
I came home two days ago after spending 6 hours at night in the hospital with my daughter only to have my dog have a stroke when I walked in. I had to put her down because the was in so much pain and lost use of her front limb.

Compare a hotdog to a cocktail sausage

Looks like he isn't gonna make it guys. I have to be up at the vet in about an hour to put him to sleep. Gus put up a fight but he's just too sick. I've been crying all morning, that dog was my son. Thanks for all the kind words everyone.

Prayers sent. Our 11 year old pug had pancreatitis about six months ago. He spent a week at the vets. I thought we were going to lose him but he made it. Changed his food and he is good to go. Hope all ends well.

Damn, prayers and good thoughts your way. I can't imagine the wreck I'd be if/when Eli gets there.

I think I've figured out why we love dogs.
We're able to project the idea of the perfect human condition upon them. In our minds, as long as we give them what they love, they feel great, therefore we feel great.
It gives us a moment of perfect being. The most impossible being within us.
They are our conduit to the perfect human condition, and I'd like to think we're their conduit to the perfect dog condition.
The short stay with us is part of the deal, and it's the worst part of the deal. Sounds like you're both better for each other though.
Hope Gus pulls through.

He didn't end up pulling through man. Is 4 a.m. and I haven't been able to sleep because I'm so used to him sleeping next to me. I know it's just a dog but damn this is so tough.
