We're much closer to the end of the Saban era than we are to the beginning. If he wants to hang on past his time like Joe Pa and Bobby did and Bama fans are okay with it then good for him.

Bryant won back-to-back titles when he was in his late 60's. Bowden won a title when he was in his 70's. Saban is a lot more energized and in better shape than them. He also has a burning desire to go out as the GOAT so he will be coaching for awhile. He wants to knock Bryant off his throne. So, this train ain't slowing down for any time soon.

Meanwhile, the beatings will continue. Carry on.

He was 67. Saban will be 66 this year.

I think most people already consider him better than Bryant.

And that's great about his desire and all. But do you really think Nick Saban is the first coach with a burning desire to go out on top? Those are the ones that always overstay their welcome. Just because he wants to do something doesn't mean he will.

Maybe the cracks in Saban's armor aren't showing and vulnerable yet, but the shine is definitely starting to wear off. Teams aren't scared of Saban or Bama anymore. The good teams no longer dread lining up against Bama, they look forward to the test. Saban and Bama are still in good enough shape to win titles, but that doesn't mean you haven't peaked. It's only going to get harder from here on out. Parity is back.
