Its the same philosophy we did last year. We got 3 guys last year that were ranked in the top 25 prospect rankings. We could have spent all our pool money on one of the top prospects like Riley Pint, but we would not have had the money for another big prospect in the draft.
Its looking good so far. Both Anderson and Wentz are pitching very well in A ball, and Mueller will be starting in Danville once their season starts.
I did read that we could do that again this year, but Im not sure Im buying it. The reports are saying that we are looking to go under slot with a guy like Nick Polazzo, who is a high school 1B from California. Then we would use our second pick on a guy like Tristen Beck, who was a huge prospect before the year, but hasnt played at Stanford this year because of injury.

Last year was a perfect storm for us to underslot our first pick due to our draft pool size and the extra pick we traded for. We don't have either of those working for us this year so I'd be surprised if we did anything other than BPA at #5.
