Member that time Auburn practiced and practiced how they would all coordinate a TOUCHDDDOWWWWN AUBBBBURN in memory of Jim Fyffe in 2003 and it took 3 games to get to do it?

Fyffe was great, though. Like Munson and Ward. There aren't any left like that. Passionate homers but not homers in a whiney way, homers who loved the school and would call them out if they were playing like dog shite. The best of radio.

A good announcer is willing to call out his own team/coaches if they put a crappy product on the field as well as praise them when they excel. Fyffe/Munson were the best.

You forgot Hawthorn of LSU who just retired a year or two ago and Mick Huber of the Gators and his OH, MY!!

The SEC has had some damn fine radio men through the years. However, I'd have to say the opposite also holds true for the color guys. There's been some whiny, homeristic, shittastic color commentators. I think Phil Savage, our current one, is pretty good and fairly knowledgeable and reasonably objective. But there are some bad ones, past and present: Doug Layton, Todd McGriff, and my all-time whiniest bitch: Stan White. Stan sounds like he's PMS'ing during every broadcast. He'll whine about a call that goes Auburn's way if they take too long to make it. And its not because he's an Auburn guy, it's just because he bitches SO MUCH!!
