This is 100% on the RA. What part of 'mind you're own business - these ain't high school kids' - does he not understand?
I'm not saying I have an issue with weed, because I really don't...just playing Devil's advocate. But are we really calling the RA out for doing what he/she is supposed to do? If and when they detect something going on in the dorm that is illegal (whether it should or shouldn't be is not the issue), do we really just want them to turn a blind eye? If they do that for the athletes, but nobody else, are we okay with that double standard? You can't smoke in or around these buildings, period.....cigarettes, cigars, blunts, whatever. If the RA smells someone lighting up his corn cob pipe in the dorm, he has an obligation to address it. That's his job.
Are we just going to give EH a pass on this and his culpability in the situation because we don't personally think weed is a big deal? It's not like these kids don't get this stuff preached at them for hours even before they ever get here. They know the rules, they know what happens if they break them. I can't help but think this is 100% on EH for making a poor decision.

Gotta agree. If this were any regular student, nobody would be posting about it or getting upset with the RA.
Proof? I've never seen a thread like this about a regular student. (Before anybody says anything, we have OT stuff all the time) The only reason people are upset is because he plays football. He knew better and he did it anyway.
Bigger problem that these kids need to understand...particularly if they have a legit chance to go to the NFL is that I have seen reports of several players dropping in the draft because of several positive tests. It costs them money. Sometimes big money.

Man. I forgot how RAs were always such dorks. Mine was a 22 year old named Ashlee with two E's. A senior living in a freshman dorm...voluntarily. Imagine!

First, our policy of suspension puts us at a disadvantage to teams in our own confrence.
Second, as much money as the players are making for the University. The least they could do is do like most everywhere else and not arrest kids for shite that doesn't warrant arrest in most parts of the US.
