Fast is good but I think track times, and in particular 40 times, are overrated when it comes to football. If they were done in full pads, I might think otherwise...just because you can run fast without gear doesn't necessarily correlate with running fast in it...
I recall George Teague...can't remember his 40 time but pretty sure it wasn't close to Lamar Thomas's time. Yet Teague ran him down badly from behind in the '93 Sugar Bowl, with no angle, making up 'bout 10-15 yards in the process. And Thomas was a sprinter on Miami's track team...one of the best plays in Bama history (and the best non-play)...
