New Mizzou assistant Cornell Mann will install NBA style offense influenced by his time coaching with Hoiberg at Iowa State.
Looks like he will be mainly responsible for covering up Zo's main weakness.

Offense isn't as a big a weakness as many say.
At MSU Cuonzo had a top 30 offense
Had a top 20 offense at Tennessee
And a top 40 offense at California
According to KenPom efficiencies.
His teams just haven't played with the pace that many believe to be good offenses.

Also, unlike football, I think it is less about X and O's in basketball. If you have guys that can make shots and get to the bucket, you're going to be decent on that side of the floor.

2016-2017 - 280th
2015-2016 - 117th
2014-2015 - 184th
2013-2014 - 131st
2012-2013 - 183rd

2008-2009 - 300th
Between our two numbers, it tells me his teams have been very efficient at not scoring many points. I'll take the help from Mann and applaud Martin if he was able to critique himself and is looking to supplement his weakness.

Obviously, he's a defensive minded guy. Which sort of sucks in today's game. These guys aren't taught much defense coming up.

Problem with half court offense. If your shooting % isnt high, you're screwed.

PPG ignores pace of play. Playing fast hasn't been a staple of Cuonzo teams. It's part of why I had a couple other coaches ahead of him.
He has had teams that play efficiently at every stop.

I think maybe this points to a faster pace? I'm not totally sure what this means to be honest.
I know Martin liked to play a slower pace game. They weren't bad at offense per se, but they didn't have as many possessions?
We should have some guys capable of putting the ball in the basket so it should be interesting.

We actually have a few players now that would excell in a high tempo game.
Barnett showed his open court abilities last season. Add Roberts, Harris and MPJ to that.
Phillips can be good in that type of game with finishers around him.
If Knox comes I would like to see a small ball lineup with Barnett, Knox and MPJ as the front court.

And thus I think we said the same thing. He is very efficient at not scoring very many points. Personally, I think he realizes that he's got the horses that are best suited for a faster pace and higher scoring game. You would be taking away advantages we gain from the likes of Porter and Harris and Roberts and even Phillips.

I think every single player on the team that will see court time would benefit. Especially a guy like your man Smith. I think he benefits from a faster pace that allows him to use his athleticism instead of him playing a half court game and trying to body up bigger guys on either end of the court.

I don't know that I would call Smith my man. I do think that he has the highest potential of any of the KA recruits. He could become a really good stretch 5.

Refreshing to see a coach that knows his own short comings, and takes the steps to correct it.
So it’s Mann and Hollender on offense and Martin and Michael Porter Sr. on defense.

Pace would be dictated by the point. From what I've seen of Harris, he is a hi tempo guy. Harris pushes and has the raw talent to push the ball to the basket. He reminds me of Flip a lot. He makes the bone headed decisions at times, but it's a trade off until and if you can get him to make better decisions as he gets experience. Not to mention as we all know he is an above average passer.
I'm not a hi IQ basketball person, I have played a little. But I think the success of a team boils down to two things in the end. Continuity between the players, how well they gel together and talent level. Ok three things, the last is a coach that can get the under achievers to step up and produce. But, having talented players like what CM has recruited can do the same thing.
