But do you remember who knocked of UConn the last 2 or 3 times they went on a mega streak?
I can't.
Title gets a trophy and a banner. Only the players and some hardcore State fans will remember the UConn win.
And as the poster above me mentioned, they're good enough to have booth.

Stanford was the last time.
Full disclosure, I only know this because they mentioned it 43 times during the MSU/UConn game

I remember it was Notre Dame ending UCLA's 88-game winning streak, and the Irish didn't win the title that year.
