Well my office is at the next exit up from this shite show and people are already trying to make excuses. The good news is that all of the underground fiber optic lines that run up and down that section of 85 appear to all be intact. The amount of data that runs up and down that interstate dwarfs the commuters. If those went down, you'd actually hear about it on CNN. Major fiber optic superhighway there.

Because Atlanta, i bet they frick these lines up during repair.

Was the fire so hot that the rebar melted or did the bridge collapse on its own?

Looks like it was burning spools of fiber optic cable stored under the bridge that was burning. Rumor is that a car fire under the bridge is what set it off.

For those not familiar with this stretch of road, it is a bridge but a mile long... underneath is alot of rail and industrial stuff, pre-existing predating the interstate in the 60's.

Not a typical "bridge " per se.

This isnt just a rebuild of a bridge.
