Do you not grasp the fact that the power of the NCAA is what allows mid-level programs to compete AT ALL?
Do you think that programs with 10x the budget would not bury smaller programs in order to win even more championships?

The NCAA isn't using their power to level the playing field anymore. Their concern
is dollars, specifically TV dollars. They could enforce a cap on coaching salaries
and overall budget dollars spent on athletic programs but they don't . Their interest is with the status quo which happens to favor the established powerhouses.
