What is hysterical is that most of the UM hierarchy is wanting to take what is coming and this be the end as there are more body bags that they would prefer stay buried. It is the everyday Ole Miss fan that is pushing this scorched earth bring everybody else down with us mentality.

Being a state fan I will admit we would be in the same boat had we landed 5*s from Ohio, Florida, Texas etc. We would be buried just as quickly.

Unfortunately, Ole Miss stuck their hand in the wrong cookie jar and got burned.

Here is the difference, this is not the 50s and 60s, Ole Miss is no Alabama, or Ohio State, or (insert big money market). The SEC nor the NCAA needs Ole Miss. In all honesty how relevant have you been since segregation in any of the big 3 sports? What one world Series appearance? I will also be the first to admit State is in the same boat.

You start a war against the SEC and NCAA and they will tell you go join the NAIA we don't need you. The SEC can find 10 other teams to take your place. Ole Miss needs the SEC and the NCAA, don't get that confused. You are no powerhouse big market $$ maker for the SEC compared to some of the other schools. And again I will state this so as not to be viewed as biased but State is in the exact same position as far as relevance goes.

What your saying is that it comes down to money. If that veil is lifted then college football
loses and the biggest loser may be the NCAA. At what point do the major conferences
decide to pull out of the NCAA ? Why invest millions only to have the NCAA ruin your
investment with what in the Ole Miss case are actually minor although numerous
violations ? The NCAA might be overplaying their hand.
