Loooots of youth on this team. Make or break year for stricklin IMO. He's basically hitching his wagon to this incoming freshman class, really hope it pays off.

We open the SEC slate at LSU and have Florida and South Carolina as well in addition to Clemson, southern, tech, kennesaw, etc OOC.
Not our hardest schedule ever but it'll be asking a lot for a team this young to make a regional. Given what I've seen from Stricklin's teams to this point, I think the solid recruiting may be too little too late; this teams chances took a serious blow when guys like Weber and Bo Tucker decided to leave.

If we don't make a regional it should be time for him to go IMO.
I know we're not on the level of LSU or UF but going 4 seasons without even making the postseason is unacceptable. He doens't even have a single season here with a winning record, so if we fail to make a regional I imagine it'd be due to us hovering around .500 again.
With as much talent as there is around Atlanta plus our posteason success this century that just shouldn't cut it.

From what Ive read, people are expecting a lot from Will Campbell. Could come in and be the best player from game one.
I dont think offense is going to be a problem for this team, but the pitching is scary, and will probably be the downfall of the team.
The schedule doesnt help at all either. Non conference series against College of Charleston and Georgia Southern will be tough, and then we are on the road at LSU, Florida, Arkansas, and South Carolina.
I think .500 overall might be the ceiling.

I've heard good things about Adkins and Locey as newcomers and Smkth was solid last year at 5-1 with a 3.5 or so ERA
But as usual it's the relief that scares me. Hope drew moody and cairnes have their shite together. Gist had some bright spots last year too as a midweek starter.
Long gone are the days of Dean weaver setting up josh fields. Miss having such a dominant closing team

As for schedule, college of charleston and Arkansas are decent names but will probably be down this year relative to their normal performance. Still, just not a good year to need a postseason run to stay afloat with a wildly young team

I've heard good things about the freshmen, basically IF they can adjust to SEC level of play early on then this might not be a bad season. A big "if" though.

This is kind of far off but will they ever move the SEC tournament out of Hoover fricking Alabama?
I talked to someone with the Nashville Sounds fairly recently, and he mentioned they were trying to make a move to get the SEC tournament at the new stadium, but that was probably a giant cocktease.

There's been a cry across multiple fanbases to move it to Nashville or Memphis or even Gwinnett (or just rotate it to all the decent Minor league parks around the South) but as far as I know it's not leaving Hoover any time soon; the current set up just makes life really easy for the SEC when it comes to a sport that a lot of LSU fans, a lot of Vandy and Ole Miss and USCe fans, some Florida fans, a few UGA fans care about and nobody else (and ESPN/CBS/ABC aren't clamoring to rewrite TV contracts over the sport, either). It'd be a lot more fun and worth going to if the tourney were held in a better city, at a better ballpark but the cost of hosting it in a nice minor league stadium in a major city geographically far from the SEC offices make it more trouble than it'd be worth.

Its the parking lot. People can get in and out easily in Hoover. It will never move, especially to Nashville, where there isnt adequate parking for RVs.

I look for Stricklin to get fired during the season

Kevin Smith
Tony Locey
Chase Adkins
That's the opening weekend rotation. Excited to see Adkins. Had a pretty descent freshman year with Coastal before transferring.

Yep. Imagine Blakely and Gist make up the midweek rotation
Locey has supposedly excelled everywhere he's ever been so here's hoping that continues on saturdays

I'm going to be occupied pretty much all evening Friday so won't really get to follow the game, will someone be able to post score updates in here?

Schunk will be starting at third
