LSU seizes sole possession of last place in SEC shooty hoops

Johnny Jones' crew took a big step last night in our quest to secure the #1 SEC draft pick for next season. It took a little help in the form of Mizzou's surprise win over Vanderbilt, but LSU took care of business, too. Overcoming a worrisome double-digit first half lead before bouncing back to post an ugly home loss to previously reeling Arkansas, our Tigers are now solidly positioned at 1-11 as the SEC schedule enters its third trimester, too late for an abortion. I have every confidence that coach Jones and the guys can carry this momentum all the way to the finish line.
While there is still some basketball to be played and I don't want to start prematurely patting people on the back, I think this team deserves some appreciation for what it has accomplished and is accomplishing. Finishing last in the basketball wasteland of the SEC is no small feat, and it bears mentioning how this team has handled this whole SEC season.
Picked 12th in the preseason, this team had some low expectations to live down to. That kind of pressure can be daunting for some teams, but these Tigers never flinched or gave in to it. After an early stumble in COMO gave our toughest competition a head-to-head tiebreaker advantage for the coveted 14th place finish, the team never lost faith in the coaches' vision for this season. They went out night after night and kept their focus on the little things. Missed free throws, needless unforced turnovers and defense befitting the French heritage of our state were the perfect complements to the disorganized chaos that was our offensive game plan.
Through weeks and weeks, this team continued to control the things we could control and trusted that somehow, some way, the seeming unstoppable train at Missouri would slip just enough to give us the inside track. And now we own it. We control our own destiny in the race for 14th, and I think by anybody's reckoning we have to be the strong favorite to win it.
It takes a special team to overcome the challenge of low expectations and still underperform. This 2017 LSU basketball team is that special.

All will be forgotten when baseball season starts.

Doesn't matter bro. Louisiana State University is clearly a baseball school. Shitty basketball, slightly above average in football and elite in baseball. It is what it is. Embrace it, it's who you are.

Again, doesn't matter. We are a football school. You have baseball and we have football. It is what it is.

I thought we were going to hang another win on your record but LSU dug deep and stole a loss from us. Given the amount of talent in the state the job Johnny Jones has done to perform so poorly is legendary.

No we are a Football and baseball school. Not everybody can play for titles every year like bama. Just because teams don't go to the National championship game every year in football doesn't mean they are not a football school.

Even though you underrated us in football, I'd take that over any other SEC school's situation for sure. And our basketball is only shitty right now. We somehow pull in some legit recruits and make a decent tournament run every now and then.
