He's never called an offense in his life?

Most likely because he doesn't want to be.
ETA: He's also 64 years old, and probably nearing the end of his career. I doubt taking on the responsibility of offensive coordinator is on his list of things to do at this point in his career.

You know nothing about that man.

Wrong. He was OC at St. Aug and has been one of the top offensive assistants in college football for decades. You don't think he's capable of calling plays for Alabama? Why?

LOL - in 1994? Yea, calling plays in high school 25 years ago clearly means he should be hired to call plays at Alabama in 2017.

Calling plays in high school football in the early 90s is a little different than what's asked of Alabama's coordinator in 2017. Maybe he didn't apply for the job? There have been hundreds of coordinator jobs open up around the country since burns has been at Alabama. Maybe he likes coaching running backs at Alabama.
You should forward this sad thread to all of the pissed off coaches in New Orleans, since that's your pathetic implication here. Pooooor poor LSU. Everyone is mad at them for showing Juluke the door but nobody is mad at mean old Bama. Grow some nuts

Maybe because he makes alot of money at a much lower stress job, churning out Heisman winning RBS and raiding the state of Louisiana of its best talent

Don't get angry, you're the one that said he never called a play in his life.

Never called a play at a collegiate level. And hasn't called a play at a high school level in a quarter century.

Of course, but don't disrespect the man's time coaching at St Aug. He's one of the best position coaches in football, strikes me as odd that he isn't a candidate for OC.

Nobody is disrespecting it, but it was 25 years ago and it is a high school.

Damn right - might be the most important member of our staff, and quite possibly the best one. There's a reason he's been there as long as he has. He's great at it and he clearly enjoys it.

Why didn't LSU hire him when they were looking for an OC? He's been a top offensive assistant for decades.

Lol. We both know this has nothing to do with Burns or his merits. This is a thinly veiled deflection from what's happening in Baton Rouge and New Orleans and it's sad
But hey, maybe those guys are reading this board and will see the light now thanks to you

Not sure he'd be interested in leaving Alabama, but certainly qualified. Saban has been his boss for 10 years or more right? Just a bit surprised he isn't being given more consideration at the place he's been so successful.

Right.

LSU fans think Saban sits around and thinks about every decision that he makes has to effect LSU in a way. You guys are such a battered ex-wife it's funny.
"Yep the little shite Nick Saban spends a lot of energy making sure he does everything he can to keep LSU from reaching it's potential. He knows that potential better than anyone"
sad as frick.

Doesn't want it, and he already gets paid more than most OC's.

He was successful for nearly a decade as RB coach as clemson too. He seems content to be a great RB coach.
