LB DaShaun White (Richland): Big fan of this kid on and off the field; he's someone who could come in and push for immediate playing time at Mac. The problem is, the firing of Sumlin didn't have the impact on his recruitment even he thought it would. He's still committed to A&M and will take his official visit this weekend. That's not ideal. Herman was in-home last night and went alone. That's smart as Herman tries to bond with him. We expect White to wait until NSD2 to sign. That gives A&M time to not only name a defensive coordinator but also for him to get some face time with White. Many think White is looking for a reason to stay committed to A&M. That may be the case, but even it isn't there's no benefit to de-committing now if he's still considering them. OU is still in the picture but actively looking for contingencies. Texas seems to be all in on White with no other real options out there. This one will be interesting but it has some time to play out.

DE Vernon Jackson (Boling): The Alabama commit is supposed to take an official visit to A&M after his playoff game tonight in Porter. I'll be on location but I hate talking to guys after a bad loss (they play Newton), especially when it's the last game of their career. He already doesn't talk much but I'll see what I can get out of him. A&M is going to be a real problem. Jackson has always preferred playing of offense and Jimbo Fisher is telling him he's a jumbo running back. Obviously Texas sees him at his NFL position of defensive end. The playoff run means Jackson is a little behind in recruiting. He'll visit Texas on 1/12 and Alabama on 1/19. UT will have its work cut out in this one.
