Frank Martin would offend so many people at Mizzou. I mean he yells at people and probably hurts some feelings. No room for that at Mizzou.

You realize we had Norm Stewart as the coach for 32 years? Frank Martin would be fantastic here, but from what I've gathered, he's got a buyout that pretty much eliminates him.

Also, despite how crappy the program is right now, Mizzou basketball over the last 40 or so years has been pretty good, with I think 25 NCAA trips during that time frame and four Elite Eights.

Now, onto some coach talk. Keatts, I think, would be a really nice hire. Others of that ilk that I've heard thrown around are Will Wade, Randy Bennett, Steve Forbes, Hurley, Matt McCall, and Saul Phillips. Most of that group is probably too green, not all.

There's the call and make them say no list: Marshall, Archie Miller, Chris Holtmann, Fred Hoiberg, Chris Mack...but there's no way on any of them. As I said, you at least make the call. Mack was interested in the past, but that ship has probably sailed.

Supposedly, they want to go after a power five coach, which gives Mizzou three options, unless there's someone else out there, that could be possible.

Cuonzo Martin - he's from the area and supposedly he's interested, but Mizzou would probably be fighting against IL here. Also, and the TN faithful can chime in here, I see him as a high floor, low ceiling guy. I think he'd get Mizzou back to respectability quickly, but wouldn't progress much past that. Of course, based on how we've been lately, I'd kill for that.

Lorenzo Romar - no, no, no...but he's probably getting fired and he's looking for a landing spot. He sent feelers out last spring about the job. Has ties to the area - was coach at SLU for a few seasons, has Porter Sr. on staff, who is the brother in law of Mizzou's women's coach and was most recently on her staff, and happens to be the father of two high level, potential one and done type recruits. Hire Romar and the Porter family probably moves back to Columbia. Problem is, Romar, while able to recruit, can't coach. He makes Jones at LSU look great. Washington has the potential top NBA pick in the draft and they are well on their way to a terrible season. He'd get some buzz going, but still wouldn't win.

Dark horse candidate - Tom Crean. This is dependent on him getting fired at IN. Supposedly a good chunk of the IN fanbase is clamoring for him to go, so maybe, just maybe.

Kelvin Sampson's probably on the list too, as I'm sure many many more are. Mizzou fans are just glad that Mike Alden isn't making this hire.
