DB from familiar high school likes Auburn, Greg Brown

In the 2017 class, it was Markaviest Bryant. In 2018, it was Quay Walker. Bryant went to Auburn. Walker chose Alabama.

Jammie Robinson could break the tie in 2019.

All three prospects have starred for Crisp County High School in Cordele, Ga. Bryant and Walker have been the most notable recruiting targets, but now that their times have passed as recruits, attention can now move to the school’s newest standout.

Robinson is a top-300 prospect who can play all over the field, but when the Tigers talk to him, it’s “mostly” at defensive back.

That means a bulk of Robinson’s conversations at Auburn involve secondary coach Greg Brown.

“He’s a nice coach. I love talking and communicating with him,” Robinson said. “Anything I ask, he’s going to let me know what’s up, and he’ll tell me the real deal.”

As of right now, the 5-foot-11 defensive back said he doesn’t “really have a favorite,” calling it early in his process. Despite Robinson admitting it’s early, a few people close to his recruitment have made it seem that Robinson — much like Blaylock — intends on committing sooner rather than later because he’s been involved in the process since his freshman year.

Robinson has also visited Florida State and South Carolina enough to think those programs are legitimate threats for a prospect who goes to a high school that has been friendly to the state of Alabama the last two recruiting cycles.

“I’m looking forward to getting back up (to Auburn),” Robinson said. “I’m definitely looking forward to it.”

The rising senior narrowed his list to the Crimson Tide, Auburn and Florida State recently before settling on Alabama.

"He committed to the premier program in the country," St. Paul's head coach Steve Mask said. "They are who they are. We are excited for him and the opportunity he has in front of him."

The 6-foot-1, 175-pound Armour-Davis is the third-rated prospect in the state among the class of 2018, according to the 247 composite rankings, and is ranked No. 121 in the nation. He is committed to play in the U.S. Army All-American Game.

A first-team Class 5A All-State and All-Coastal Alabama selection, Armour-Davis finished his junior season with 31 tackles and three interceptions on defense. He also had three TD receptions and one rushing score on offense.

"He's very tall," Mask said. "Obviously, his speed is unreal. He has great ball skills He could really play on both sides of the ball. As far as being a DB is concerned, he can really cover you. In that league (the SEC), it is all about who can cover who."

Armour-Davis is the latest in a successful line of Saints to commit to and eventually play at Alabama. They include quarterback AJ McCarron, safety Mark Barron and, most recently, offensive lineman Josh Casher.

Jaylyn Armor-Davis to bammer. Not surprising. reminds me a lot of John Broussard. Very highly ranked early in the evals. But his lack of size drops his rankings. Good player, but not what the early hype suggested. however now that he's a bama commit, he'll probably get a 5th star.
