1. Jesus. No one man has made a more positive impact on mankind.
2. George Washington. Anyone that cares to learn about his life will be humbled.
3. Louis Pasteur. Saved countless lives through his work.
Hard to beat these guys.
My dad is my own personal hero but that doesn't mean anything to anyone other than me. Worth an honorable mention though.

Dads and paw paws (that was my granddad too... must be a ga thing) are in class by themselves.
I'm a pussy compared to my paw paw. Served in WW2, built his own house, raised a family during the depression....I mean damn. Always had a pack of Wrigleys spearmint for me in his pocket too.

Yep, Gettysburg would have been a victory rather than a defeat and Longstreet took the brunt of the blame when it was Lee's for attacking an army in a superior location.

That's a bit of a stretch imo.
Lee was an aggressive daring general (mostly because he had to be) and it's not a coincidence that his successes came when he had likeminded aggressive and daring lieutenants to carry out his orders. Instead of slow, conservative and borderline insubordinate ones like Longstreet.
You have to wonder if they would have even given up the high ground at Gettysburg in the first place if a certain other lieutenant hadnt recently been killed and was still in command. There probably never would have been a battle at Gettysburg.

Good point, however, Longstreet begged Lee to take the Reber army south toward Washington and force the Union army to come down from the high ground to defend a possible attack on the capital. Longstreet believed a battle on even ground could be won but not one with the Union army in a superior defensive position.

Very easy for us to second guess afterwards. Who knows though? So many variables. The thought of the Army of Northern Virginia marching on D.C. is pretty awesome to imagine though. With the evacuations and maybe Lincoln in a bunker killing himself like his future comrade Hitler under similar circumstances..
Back to Gettysburg though, have you ever been? My real World hero took me once a long long time ago and we made the walk on foot up cemetery ridge to the high water mark. Pretty spooky to imagine what that must of been like.

I didn't like him when he was here because I felt he was a dirty driver but the loss was immediate. Crazy.
Now I marvel over his ability to protect the rights to his name and his legacy. Oh and he was a pretty good driver too. Hated to see Jimmie win his seventh.

He was probably definitely a dirty driver. That came from the extinct instinct from where winning a race or not was whether you had enough money to continue the dream or not though.
Made for exciting times for sure. Unlike what these soft gimps race for today.

I've been fortunate to get to visit several. Still many I'd like to see. Shiloh is a very special place that I would recommend everyone visit once.
Chancellorsville is the best though. I'm not sure how it works when you get to Heaven, but if God let's you use the remote control to go back and view historical events as they happened.....I definitely will want to watch that campfire meeting where Lee and Jackson scratched that one in the dirt.
