I think by year 2 we could see real progress.

I am assuming that after the season 1-2 players transfer. That would leave Roberts and 3-4 open scholarships. 1 or 2 should be grad transfers. The other 1-2 probably need to be 4 year transfers.

That will open up 2018 where there is s lot of regional talent.
By year 2 the players here now would be upperclassmen, the transfers would help, as well as the 2018 recruits.
