I'm totally in favor of trimming the fat and using only the workers you need but it does get out of hand at times. Sometimes politicians push this too far trying to make a statement that they are saving taxpayer dollars and it ends up being detrimental. Before instituting a hiring freeze first make sure you have the personnel in place to get the job done.
