Heard on the college sports station on SiriusXM just now that an early signing period for football has been approved by the coaches committee?? It now moves on to the next step where it will probably be rubber stamped. The early signing dates will be 72 hours in mid December. The one in June was shot down.

I like this move but I agree with the radio host, why have a signing period? Open it up so that if you are in your senior year and ready to sign, sign. Any day any time. With an out for the kid in case of NCAA investigation or change in head coaches. Recruiting has become a shite show for everyone involved. Time to reform it.

There really isn't anything wrong with recruiting being a shite show. Kids should have as much time as possible to make a decision without being strong-armed into signing. Coaches are paid millions and can be inconvenienced.

Signing periods are good.

This move to create an early one is good for both the athletes and teams.

People would be pressured to sign way to early if there wasn't a signing period, so many things can happen that might change your mind.

This move is how it should be.

By December, they've had plenty of time to take their visits and make a decision. If it were the June early signing date, I'd agree. But it's unfair for too many people involved beyond just coaches. It has an impact on other recruits and where they may end up.
