But contrary to popular belief, this does not prolong the life of your engine; in fact, it decreases it by stripping oil away from the engine's cylinders and pistons.

Warming up your car before driving is a leftover practice from a time when carbureted engines dominated the roads.

It is also against the law in some states.


Meaning to start your car and leave it idling

Go get your fricking oil changed. I doubt this affects literally anything in the car. It's just silly.

Nailed it, I'm actually an automotive tech so kinda knew the answer before I asked.. Was just wondering how informed ppl are about their cars.. And to answer dudes question bout how it is harmful, gas is a solvent.. When your engine is cold the computer compensates by running a rich mix which, in fact, is harmful to your bores and rings

Nothing better than turning on the car, cranking up the heat and turning on the heated steering wheel and seats and then getting in 10 minutes later to a balmy 80 degree car.
